Chapter 1330

---

Just then, the betting ranking changed.
“Wait, what?” Creasing his forehead, Maloney refreshed the page and rejoined the live stream, thinking the change had been a technical glitch.
However, the new rankings remained. Hannah’s name popped up in the first place! Maloney’s eyes widened in confusion and shock. “Is there a glitch or something? Someone put five hundred million bets on you, Hannah!”
“What?” Hannah’s brows furrowed at his words, looking down at his phone.
True enough, she had replaced Rhett in the first place.
Hannah didn’t have to guess who bet that insane amount on her.
Pressing her lips together, she took out her phone and sent a message to Bryson with nothing but a question mark.

Bryson was in the grandstand when he received the message, grinning as he imagined Hannah’s reaction at seeing the bet rankings.
He immediately sent a simple “Good luck” as a reply.
Hannah sighed, reading his reply.
It reminded her of something similar that took place in Cadilind a long time ago.
Hannah was pulled out of her thoughts when Maloney suddenly exclaimed, “These comments are crazy. These people couldn’t believe that the Comptons sent a newcomer to represent them in the match. They’re even convinced that it was your family who put that insane bet on you.”
Intrigued, Hannah snatched the phone from his hands to see the comments for herself.
“Hey, I’m not done reading yet!” Maloney tried to take his phone back but to no avail.
Hannah read through the comments and couldn’t help finding each one amusing.
“A friendly competition among the six leading families in town? Is this supposed to be interesting?”
“Is the lady on the second track the controversial daughter of Wallace Compton? The one who had just recently lived with them? Wow.
She’s beautiful.”
“What’s the use of being beautiful if she doesn’t know how to race?
I don’t know why the Comptons allowed her to participate in the competition. She’ll only disgrace her family.”
“Even so, she’s a biological daughter, so she has to participate in public events like this for her family’s sake. Besides, who cares if she doesn’t know how to race? It’s a friendly competition, anyway. At least she’s got the looks and charm to captivate the hearts of the audience.”
“This is a competition among the six families, right? So, who’s the guy with a helmet on the seventh track? Is he also a participant?
Someone enlighten me.”
“It must be a member of the Chadwich family. Their surname is in the ranking on the screen. Check it.”
“I think the result of the competition is pretty obvious. Poor Compton family. They’ll surely lose that five hundred million bet.”
The comments were expectedly plenty, but none of them said anything nice about Hannah.
Annoyed by the comments, Maloney took the phone from Hannah’s hand and put it back into his pocket. “Don’t mind the comments. Those people don’t know what they’re talking.”

But Hannah was neither upset nor offended. Instead, reading the comments had put her in a better mood. “Well, this is my chance to prove them all wrong, so I’m excited.”
Although Maloney knew Hannah could take care of herself, he still couldn’t help but worry. “Some of the participants today are pro-racers, Hannah. They’re unmatched. You were excellent on the road yesterday, but your skills might not be enough to compete with these people. They’ve been in multiple racing competitions before and have won many.”
Hannah nodded nonchalantly and said, “Thank you for the reminders, but you don’t need to worry about me, Mr. Pierce. I understand that I might not win the first place, but I’m sure I won’t be in the last place. You’re the worst racer here, so I wish you the biggest of luck.”
Maloney’s expression froze, not expecting her response.
If he had known she would return his concern with teasing, he wouldn’t have opened his mouth!
Suddenly, a sharp beeping sound rang out from the car in front with a screen showing the time.
There were only five minutes left for preparation, and the racers were asked to get ready.
Hannah bent over and took out her helmet from the passenger seat.
After putting it on, she turned to Maloney and winked at him. “See you at the finish Line.”
